Why shortcuts are useful
Keyboard shortcuts make a browser notepad feel faster. Instead of opening menus for every action, you can keep your hands on the keyboard while writing, editing, saving, printing, and searching text. This is especially useful for long notes, meeting minutes, study summaries, support replies, and quick drafts that need several small edits.
Most shortcuts use Ctrl on Windows, Linux, and
Chromebooks. On Mac, use Command for the same action. Some
browser shortcuts may already be reserved by your browser, extensions,
or operating system. If a shortcut does not work, click inside the Note
All editor first and try again.

Shortcuts for writing and editing
Undo and redo are the shortcuts most writers use first. If you delete
text by mistake, press Ctrl + Z or
Command + Z. If you undo too far, use redo. Cut, copy, and
select all work like they do in most editors. These shortcuts are useful
when moving a paragraph, copying a note into another app, or clearing a
draft before starting again.
Shortcuts for file work
Use Open when you want to load a plain text file from your device. Use Download file when you want to keep a separate copy of the note on your computer. Saving a browser draft and downloading a file are not the same thing. A browser draft stays inside your current browser. A downloaded file can be moved, backed up, emailed, or opened later in another text editor.
When shortcuts do not work
- Click inside the editor, then press the shortcut again.
- Check whether your browser uses the same shortcut for another feature.
- Disable extensions temporarily if they capture keyboard shortcuts.
- On Mac, use Command where Windows instructions say Ctrl.
- On some laptops, function-key settings can affect browser shortcuts.
Shortcuts are meant to save time, but menu buttons remain available if a browser or device blocks a key combination.
